Kasaro BV was founded in 2001 by Katrien Van den Branden (initially the reason to start my own knitting business was to quit my regular job and become self-employed which allowed me to be with my children more, pick up and drop off my children to school and always be near my family)

Katrien founded a small knitting mill in Nieuwkerken-Waas, the first activities consisted of carrying out orders for other knitting mills, the so-called “contract knitting”.

Many knitting mills were still active in Belgium during that period and the knitting industry was flourishing in Sint-Niklaas.

By spending many hours knitting for others you could earn a good living and working long hours was of course no problem.

Due to economic reasons, a lot changed in Belgium, the Chinese market was allowed to supply unlimitedly from 2005 and almost all knitting mills stopped or went bankrupt, which also changed a lot for Kasaro, from a contract knitter Kasaro became a manufacturer of small numbers of high-quality branded clothing, this required a new approach and staff were also hired. In addition, a collaboration was set up with a carpet manufacturer from West Flanders to make personalized bean bags/a knitted ottoman, a 3D knitting from a whole with different knitting structures, a particularly high-quality technique in which the ottoman is knitted without confection.

The number of STOLL knitting machines has now grown to 12, investments have been made in washing and drying machines and the clothing has also been adjusted; with a particularly skilled professional at the head of this department.

  • A collaboration was also set up with a Dutch company that produces its own wool, the making is done for a beautiful men's brand, here too the finish is again very special.

  • The latest project is a collaboration with a Dutch company that makes custom bras for women, special shapes, "a product after my own heart".

    We produce truly custom work, beautiful custom bras, possibly with padding if desired, good finishing is also so important here.
